I was in high school when the first black students showed up. There, when they came to swim in an all white city pool. I was here when the Klan held rallies. Even in this small town I witnessed how black people struggled to overcome. King would use words and non violence to achieve what they say couldn’t be done. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
