MMD REBEL MPs GIVEN FINAL ULTIMATUM: SHAPE UP OR SHIP - TopicsExpress

MMD REBEL MPs GIVEN FINAL ULTIMATUM: SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT Following the events of the last 45 days in our party, the Movement for Multiparty Democracy Politburo has made several decisions and changes meant to position the New Hope MMD to successfully contest the January 20th 2015 Presidential election. I have taken note that some members of our party are daring both myself and the party by making decisions meant to destabilize the party. For example, we have a number of MPs and some selected leaders who have publicly endorsed a presidential candidate who is not the Partys candidate. Our constitution states that one of the obligations of a member is to be loyal and committed to the ideals and programs of the party. To accommodate the anomaly created by this illegal act, the party would have to abrogate its constitution and opt for convenience. In view of this development, the National Secretary Mr Mwansa Mbulakulima has been directed to write to all erring MPs and National Executive Committee members who have taken this path to re-think their position. Those who will continue to campaign for other parties and candidates beyond the 10th of January shall be considered as having crossed the floor and appropriate action shall be taken. This shall be followed by a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly demanding for their removal from Parliament. Finally, following the revocation of the ten presidential nominations on the MMD NEC, the following have been selected to take over as nominated members of the NEC with immediate effect: Nominated NEC Members: 1. Emmanuel Chihili (North-Western) 2. Frank Bowa (Muchinga) 3. Stephen Mukuka (Northern) 4. Raphael Nakachinda (Southern) 5. Lisa Passi (Eastern) 6. Sheila Kalubi (Southern) 7. Rev. Reuben Sambo (Eastern) 8. Tobias Maliti (North-Western) 9. Albert Chimwemwe (Luapula) 10. Basil Mulunga (Copperbelt) Nominated as Trustees: 11. Dr Peter Machungwa (Luapula) 12. Georgina Mutale (Northern) We are of the view that the recent developments in our party are the genesis of the birthing process of a new, re-branded MMD. I thank you. Nevers Sekwila Mumba MMD PRESIDENT
