MOBILE PHONES ARE JUST THE TICKET FOR BUSES OF SOMERSET CUSTOMERS Innovative new initiative allows customers to use mobile phones as bus tickets Passengers travelling on The Buses of Somerset network in Somerset can now purchase their ticket on their smart phone. Customers with iPhones or phones using the Android operating system can download the FirstBus mTicketing App for free from the App store or Google Play. Customers using the App for the first time will need to enter their payment details including a secure PIN, but all successive purchases will be very quick and easy and can be done just before boarding the bus by showing the driver the ticket on their phone. Tickets available through mTicketing on Buses of Somerset routes in Somerset are: 1 Day, 2 Day, 3 Day, 7 Day and Month (covers all Buses of Somerset) Commenting on the new mTicketing system, Jo Cann, Marketing Manager of First South West, said: “This is good news for all our customers in Somerset. We are one of the first divisions to give customers the opportunity of using their mobile phones as bus tickets. It is an innovative scheme that I hope our customers in Somerset will welcome; and will encourage new people to use our services and infrequent customers to get on board with us more often.” The mTicketing system is being rolled out across FirstGroup’s other UK bus companies later this year.
