MODELS, ALLOW ME TO CLARIFY Your motivation to model in New York Fashion Week, is NOT from what you see during NYFW! Its from what you see at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (formely Olympus Fashion Week!) The clips, videos, and pictures you see that inspire you to want to go to NY to walk the big stages at Fashion Week as Naomi Campbell, Coco Rocha, and Carmen Kass do not come from NYFW, they come from MBFW. There is a difference! For those models in Houston, the difference is like Fashion Houston VS. Houston Fashion Week (for example). One is a high profile main-stage show. The other is something that is trying to be as recognized and respected during the same period. (no disrespect intended towards HFW.) Imagine people trying to put together shows to rival MBFW during the same period which is NYFW. Shows that are intended to share the spotlight, but often dont measure up. There are VERY FEW that will meet high standard outside of MBFW. There are some that will! But do not be mislead or fooled... walking at NYFW or in NYFW can often times mean you are doing a show youd find at a club or plainly poorly produced show youd find locally, but in another city! Low attendance, un-organized.... you name it... it happens during NYFW Please do your research before you rush to NY to walk in NYFW expecting bright lights, international press, and renown designers! Ive seen very tragic shows at NYFW! (Basically New York doesnt always mean big time! The same dreamers, pretenders, and manipulators you find locally, you get here too! Research the shows so that your expectation doesnt exceed what you actually get before you come!) Best of luck models and welcome to My City!
