MOM UPDATE: A pretty good weekend led to a pretty terrible Sunday evening. Mom has some people help her who really didnt know how to work with a large person and this coupled with the fact that my Mom was nervous about their ability led to her hurting her knee and shoulder. Right after that I got a very panicked call from her begging for me to help and come take her out of there. Clearly this was a panic attack but I packed up and quickly went to the facility to assess what had happened, calm my mother, and just hang out for a bit. When I got there she was better and I was able to make her comfortable. I didnt jump down anyones throats (there was another son of a patient who was already laying into them) but I sent my concerns to management while everything was fresh. I comforted her, helped her relax and treat some of her pain issues, took her out of her room and just settled her nerves. I also stayed to help her get up to go to bed, with one of the aids she doesnt trust, and it actually went fine. She had soreness but it didnt appear she actually hurt herself but well see today. So....rough night for my Mom. On Friday they took my Mom off one of the antibiotics she was taking (the one that made her so nauseous in the morning) and put her back on a diuretic which she needed as she has been retaining a ton of water and has actually gained weight since she arrived at the facility even though her food intake is way down and shes rehabbing. Her legs had gotten to the point where they looked like they were going to split and it was starting to effect her ability to do therapy. Hopefully what happened last night doesnt effect her because we were rally hoping the diuretic (which has already helped one leg) would resolve her swelling/retention issue. Trying to keep her positive but there s a alot of alone time in a place like that.
