MOMENT OF INSPIRATION #081802 by Michael Jamison Jesus lived and died long ago. Nevertheless, a portion of his teachings live on, having survived the editors and re-writers through the ages. Those scraps leave us with at least an outline of what he meant to get across. Why has there been so much loss? Why are we left with only fragments of his thought? The reason for the massive erosion to the message of Jesus is marketing. The writings of other philosophers have been preserved relatively intact, because they were not marketed. No one markets the teachings of Plato, so not much of Platos work has been distorted. Philosophic writings older than the gospels have been brought forward to the present time without being disturbed because they have not been sales pitched. With sales pitching comes lying. The story is true regarding a woman who had a good experience buying a used car. She told her best friend how nice the used car salesman was, and how when she told him her name was Sally, he had said that his wifes name was Sally. Her friend, Jane, was in need of another car, so she went to see that same used car salesman. When she told him her name was Jane, he said: My wifes name is Jane! Some of the promoters of the Jesus Christ philosophy have behaved like that used car salesman. Whatever your name, you need to check out the product for yourself, not trusting any salesman, but trusting only the Christ presence within you to reveal to you the right teachings.
