MONDAY 11 JULY 1994 After a great party I finally got to sleep on the sofa at 5am. I thought the host had been a great sport seeing as he had a flat full of people hed never met before 8 hours ago. However, it turned out the flat owner hadnt even been there. He came home at 6am horrified and slung us all out on the street. we wandered around the streets of Oswestry for an hour before finding a cafe open for business at 7am. Basil is showing early symptoms of Road Fever and is chatting to all shop assistants and waitresses like hes a long lost nephew. After breakfast he is delighted to buy a copy of Jacques Dutroncs cactus for 30p. By the time the pubs open we meet up with Geraint Hughes Pete Scoundrel and Huw Davies for more cider. Basil takes a shine to the bar maid who is considering his proposal of marriage. After the pub we say our farewells and en route back to the van Basil performs a series of semi naked cartwheels in the park. Leicester is just over a hundred miles away. We arrive about 4pm. It is scorching hot. The sort of heat we only get on two days of the year. We go to a house in a terraced street where we are going to stay for two nights as tomorrow is a day off. Basil and I get instructions to the nearest corner shop to go and buy some provisions. We go dressed as Mowgli. Its okay, we are rock and rollers on tour. The gig is at a venue called Magazine. It is probably the least dynamite show of the tour thus far. This is Teddy Slazengers Pinkie Brown home territory. We meet a friend of his called Abi.
