When Hezekiah became king, the nation began a slow road to recovery & economic strength. Hezekiah probably heeded much of Micah’s advice. MAIN MESSAGE … Prediction of the fall of both the northern kingdom of Israel & the southern kingdom of Judah. This was God’s discipline upon the people, actually showing how much he cared for them. Hezekiah’s good reign helped postpone Judah’s punishment. IMPORTANCE OF MESSAGE … Choosing to live a life apart from God is making a commitment to sin. Sin leads to judgment & death. God alone shows us the way to eternal peace. His discipline often keeps us on the right path. CONTEMPORARY PROPHETS … Hosea (753 – 715 B.C.), Isaiah (740 – 681 B.C.) MICAH’S CHARGE OF INJUSTICE … Micah charged the people with injustice of many kinds: Plotting evil (2:1), Fraud, coveting, violence (2:2), Stealing, dishonesty (2:8), Driving widows from their homes (2:9), Hating good, loving evil (3:1-2), Despising justice, distorting what is right (3:9), Murder & corruption (3:10) and Taking bribes (3:11).
