MONDAY 19th AUGUST 2013- LAE COUPLE SUSPECTED OF KILLING INFANT A man and his wife are now held under CID police custody over the alleged killing of an infant baby soon after delivery early yesterday morning. The couple both from Tari in the SHP and resides at the 3mile 7block here in the city. The body of the baby was found around 12pm covered with a taro leaf at the drain leading to the sea at the Morobe Park. The place where the body was found was where the couple had left their belongings but when they notice that the security guards were monitoring them the husband decided to move them towards the Yacht club end. According to eyewitness’s accounts, the couple were suspected when they were swimming in the sea for about 6 hours since the morning without coming out of the water. They said the wife looked like she had just gave birth and she was just standing in the sea with her husband swimming around her. When the public congregated at the scene, both panicked and tried to escape but Police CID officers were called in by security guards, apprehended the husband and later his wife and both were brought in for questioning at the Lae Police station last night.
