***MONDAY MOTIVATION*** Putting Yourself First What’s your typical day look like? Get up, feed the kids, take them to school, go to work, doing everything you can to make your boss or others pleased with your performance/products, run errands so everyone has what they need, make dinner, clean up others’ messes, etc, etc. Well, how often do you do something for yourself? I mean something that directly benefits you. Something you NEED for YOU! I’ve learned that I absolutely must do things for myself every single day in order for me to help others to the best of my ability. I have to put myself first. This sounds selfish, but I’m not talking about being self-absorbed, I’m talking about doing certain actions, habits, or activities that help to make myself better so I can function to the best of my ability. Without taking care of yourself, how can you expect to take care of others? It doesn’t work. I’ll give you one example of something that I absolutely must do each day in order to run on all cylinders. I must workout. Workouts are proven to do many things; they relieve stress (this one is HUGE, and it really works), they release endorphins which are the feel-good hormones that improve your mood, they give you something that YOU are in control of, something that YOU accomplish for YOURSELF – that step towards a goal gives you a sense of accomplishment which keeps your focus on the right things and keeps you driven to strive for more. Workouts give you time for self-reflection, a step away from the craziness of the day. This often can result in a better state of mind to solve challenges that have been eating away at you. Suddenly something that seemed insurmountable is now just a little challenge that can be easily overcome. Not to mention that with consistent workouts you look better, which in turn makes you more confident! When I get my workout in, I experience all of those plus some that allow me to perform at my best both mentally and emotionally in order to be the best I can for every other aspect of my life: my wife, my son, the business, and helping as many people as I can with their goals/dreams. Start today! There’s no better time and the time will never be just right. Make today the day you start to take time and do something for YOURSELF.
