MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2014 – 1 Corinthians 1:1-2:16 https://biblegateway/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+1%3A1-2%3A16&version=ESV 1 Corinthians 1 How confident are you in your faith? I think that it is fairly common for people to think of their faith and calling as simply joining a church or participating in a congregation or deciding to be involved. Pauls attitude was quite different than that. We werent simply invited by people, or asked by someone to participate, or be involved in a program that suits our fancy. Paul knew that his calling came from God (v.1). He also wrote to the Corinthians as those who shared the calling to be saints (v.2). He even went on further to state that everyone in every place that calls on the name of Jesus is included with those who were first called by Jesus (v.2). Your faith is not some trite matter of little significance or opinion. Rather, you were called by God. So long as you do not despise that calling, He will continue to transform your life so that you may be enriched in every way, in all speech and all knowledge (v.5). Consider it this way, how would you respond differently to the call if it were a telemarketer, a neighbor, or Jesus? Have confidence in your walk with God. You have not been called by just anyone. You were called by God. Let your faith reflect that calling. 1 Corinthians 2 Unlike Paul who decided to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified (v.2), many still pursue only those things that are seen with their eyes, heard with their ears or imagined through their senses (cf. v.9). The mind of Christ sees, hears, and perceives things that are beyond the wisdom of this age. The non-sense of this world is the failure to utilize the Spiritual sense or mind of Christ. He gives us the secret and hidden wisdom of God. May it never be said of us regarding the mind of Christ, You dont use the sense God gave you.
