MONGOLIAN BLUEGRASS....... Yes, there is such a thing. And we are groupies. Great night last night at an open-air concert in the amphitheater near Jingan Temple, about a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Perfect weather and not-to-huge crowd. Tom Peng, from Inner Mongolia, with his new band, NewGrass Lands. We first became fans of Tom when he played with Shanghai Newgrass. But they seem to have dissolved (were assuming) because John, the guitarist and leader of the group had to return to the States. Tom does this amazing thing combining Mongolian throat singing (link here: https://facebook/photo.php?v=326983170766802&set=vb.116698045128650&type=3&theater) with bluegrass. Id give just about anything for somebody in #Nashville to get a look and listen at this kid. Hes amazing. He needs a #RickyScaggs and #KentuckyThunder and/or #MartyStuart to take him under their wing and see just how good he can be. They started the set with Ill Fly Away. Mother Maybelle Carter would have been proud.
