MONTPELIER –Faith leaders from around Vermont are chastising Gov. Peter Shumlin for failing to move forward toward a publicly financed health care system. The criticism came just hours before the governors budget address was to be delivered Thursday afternoon. Four clergy joined activists with the Vermont Workers Center, who protested last week during Shumlins inaugural ceremony, as they called for lawmakers to hold a public hearing on Vermonters health care struggles. Political failure is one thing, said Rabbi Joshua Chasan of Ohavi Zedek Synagogue in Burlington. The denial of quality health care that is universal, accessible and affordable is more than political failure. It is what we call a sin.
