MOO Milk Update: Sorry for the radio silence over here - TopicsExpress

MOO Milk Update: Sorry for the radio silence over here recently, we have been VERY busy working with our farmers and some potential MOO milk buyers over the past couple of weeks. However, we know that everyone is eager for an update, so here goes! First and foremost we want to thank all of you for the incredible outpouring of love and support for MOO Milk. The support for our local farmers is truly inspiring. There has been a lot of concern for the wellbeing of our farmers, and we want to assure you that they continue to be the number one priority as we work with them to secure a long-term buyer for their organic milk. We want to reinforce that while MOO Milk is not in stores at this time, the company itself is not bankrupt. We have operating cash on hand and our farmers continue to be fully paid for 100% of their milk. We are still picking up the raw milk at every farm and sending the farmer paychecks out every week. We expect to continue sending the shipments to Stonyfield, which has agreed to purchase the milk for the next several months. We also want to reinforce that we ended production of MOO Milk not because of a lack of funds, or lack of demand, but rather because outdated equipment was creating a freshness and safety issue that we did not feel comfortable passing on to our customers. We are currently negotiating with a number of potential partners and we remain very optimistic that a long-term contract for the farmers’ milk will be secured. Lastly, we would like to address questions regarding the funds needed to purchase and install new equipment. We wish the solution were simple. Unfortunately, retrofitting the facility in order to accommodate new processing equipment is a major undertaking. We did not have the option of just swapping out one machine for another. The time and disruption of retrofitting the space was just too great of an obstacle for us to overcome. We are working hard to explore all of our options and we have not given up, but we also had to make the difficult decision to end production and shift our focus to the long-term viability of our farmers. Many of our major supermarket customers have assured us that they will hold our shelf space for a short period while we explore all options to renew production in the future. We are grateful for their support and are working hard to examine that possibility as well. Thank you again for your unwavering support. We will keep you updated as often as we can. Sincerely, MOO Milk
