MOON AND ASTROLOGY......... As the Sun signifies the soul, the moon signifies ones perception and feelings, which in effect is the inner mind. The moon represents the emotional mind, not the functional analytical mind - that is the job of Mercury. The Moon signifies our perceptions and determines right or wrong perceptions that we have in our life. Emotional stability or instability emanates from a well placed Moon or badly placed Moon in the birth chart. Sensitivity, caring and nurturing ability come also from the Moon. After the ascendant, the moon is the most important factor in the Vedic birth chart, followed by the Sun. The moon is subtle and sensitive. It is nourishing and caring and therefore why it signifies our Mother in the chart. The moon represents a persons creativity, intuition and gives one the ability to care for people and work in service oriented jobs, such as nursing, catering, healing work or helping the needy. These people would have a well-placed moon in their chart. On the other hand, a weak moon can cause mental disorders, weakness of the lungs, and a weak immune system, making the person prone to colds and fevers. The moon can be erratic as it changes into various signs and houses every two and a half days; therefore suffering occurs through emotional inconsistencies. When the Moon is weak or badly placed in the chart, it can bring about loneliness, sadness and insecurity. The Moon can make us run wild with imagination and become paranoid especially if Rahu is aspecting it. The Moon needs the association with other planets whether it is conjoined, aspected, or sitting in neighborly houses, the company is welcome. The Moon that is isolated in a chart or distant from other planets feels exactly that, alone. The Moon excels when working with people in a harmonious way. The well-placed moon in the first house makes a person attractive with wide open eyes, long dark hair and a pale complexion. There is a tendency towards water retention and individuals who have a weak or afflicted moon in their chart at times carry extra weight.
