MORE BENEFITS REVEALED FOR PLATINUM ONE MEMBERS OF QANTAS FREQUENT FLYER (QFF) PROGRAMME In an attempt to entice retention and ongoing loyalty with the airline QFF has announced new benefits for Platinum One members to coincide with an exclusive round Australia “meet-and-greet” roadshow with Lesley Grant (Qantas Loyalty, Chief Executive Officer). Effective immediately are six additional benefits to achieving Platinum One status with QFF. Remember, to achieve and retain Platinum One status a QFF must earn 3600 status credits in one membership year of which 2700 status credits must be earned flying on Qantas marketed flights (i.e. can be purchased as a codeshare). The six new benefits include: * Complimentary Platinum membership for your partner This is available for the duration of the Platinum One primary membership. A partner must be the spouse or in a de facto relationship with the Platinum One member who lives at the same address and has that address stored in their Qantas Frequent Flyer profile. Only one partner can be nominated for Platinum status per membership year and members can only be linked to one partner at any one time (including Chairman’s Lounge Platinum One members). * Complimentary servicing and support Selected fees are waived when calling Qantas. In addition to Flight Award Assistance Fee waiver, new eligible bookings using QFF points or cash will also have their Booking Fee waived. Frequent Flyer Service Centre Family Transfer Service fee is also waived exclusively for Platinum One members. * Fly home sooner Travelling on a flexible domestic fare and arriving at the airport earlier than planned allows you to request to move to an earlier domestic Qantas flight at the Qantas Service Desk or Qantas Club/Business Lounge. Fare differentials will be waived allowing Platinum One members to take off on the next available flight without paying any extra. * Up to 175,000 more bonus QFF points QFF members who fly more than the 3600 status credits in one membership year will be offered reward bonus points. A bonus 75,000 QFF points can be earned when reaching 5000 status credits on eligible flights with Qantas and Jetstar and an extra 100,000 QFF points if you reach 7000 status credits. * Double QFF points at participating Qantas Restaurants On top of complimentary membership to Qantas epiQure, QFF Platinum One members can now enjoy double points at participating Qantas Restaurants. Members need to book through Qantas/restaurants using their name and QFF number. * Complimentary Premium Membership to Qantas Golf Club Qantas Golf Club due to launch late 2014 / early 2015 is an exclusive new online community endorsed by Golf Australia. Membership includes entry to some of Australia’s most prestigious private and public courses and a range of other golfing benefits. Some members have argued that these benefits should have been made available much earlier even at the conception of the Platinum One status tier. Contrasts have been made against British Airways Executive Club Elite Gold Guest List status, which offers members two complimentary Gold tier memberships and one Platinum tier membership to any friends and/or family in addition to a number of other benefits. Many Platinum and Platinum One QFF members have already transferred loyalty to offshore programmes for various reasons. One such reason is the allure of Lifetime oneworld Emerald status (i.e. QFF Platinum equivalent). QFF offers Lifetime Gold status (12,000 status credits) but does not offer Lifetime Platinum status like three of its oneworld airline partners: British Airways Executive Club, Finnair Plus, and American Airlines AAdvantage Loyalty Program. With many current Platinum and Platinum One members having also attained Lifetime Gold QFF status the additional benefits added to Platinum One membership may go some of the way to enticing ongoing loyalty with QFF. However, Lesley Grant has indicated that Lifetime Platinum QFF is definitely not on the cards and the allure of this level of status may be too enticing for many savvy elite frequent flyers.
