MORE COMPREHENSIVE RACE DAY VET CHECKS: Currently, horses on race days are not checked pre-race. We believe that if they were, it is likely to detect health issues which may lead to breakdowns when they race later on in the day. Consider these points - Compulsory ECG checks on race days may detect heart abnormalities, as Admire Rakti was suffering yesterday, and avoid these horrific deaths occuring. Bloods to show oxygen levels may prevent bleeds, flexion and soundness tests may prevent catastrophic limb injuries and temperature will show overheating/stress/underlying conditions may prevent death.
