MORE FOOT OVERBRIDGES IN NOIDA, GREATER NOIDA WILL BRIDGE THE GAP In view of the safety of pedestrians of the city, the Greater Noida Authority has fast-tracked the projects pertaining to the construction of five foot overbridges (FOBs). As the plan was approved, authority has earmarked Rs 72 crore. Noida Authority has also initiated tendering process for constructing two FOBs in its jurisdiction and has allotted Rs 3.1 crore for the same. The construction work is likely to be started by April and the entire work is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Officials said the appointment of a consultant will be done soon which will ensure construction work and maintenance of the FOBs. The bids are expected to be finalised this week so the work could be finished in six months. The same process will be followed by the Noida Authority also. “With increase in population is the increase in congestion of key roads. The move to construct FOBs at various places will ease trouble of pedestrians and minimise traffic snarls,” said an official of Greater Noida Authority. It may be noted that the Noida Traffic Police as well as locals had demanded footbridges on busiest roads, including Yamuna Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Pari Chowk area. The authorities had earlier announced a dozen FOBs which are under construction out of which 10 are in Noida while two are in Greater Noida. NO FOB-BING OFF! As per the proposal, one FOB will come up at Jagat Farm Market, two at Pari Chowk area, one near Kailash Hospital and one near Galgotia College in Greater Noida. The authority has also announced to construct a rail overbridge at Dadri. In Noida the FOBs will be constructed on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway near Sector 168 while another will be constructed near Sai Temple in Sector 61. Presently there is no FOB in Greater Noida while six FOBs are in Noida city. Presently there is no FOB in Greater Noida while only six FOBs are in Noida city. Around `30 crore will be spent on each FOB. Escalators will be fitted at these FOBs too.
