The massive neon sign...PORT TAMPA TERMINAL. Christmas Card Lane every year on Bayshore Blvd. Fowler Ave. was a dirt road. The Tampa Spartans and their rubber band. Service Merchandise. One HUGE trash fire every year in the (then) swamp lot behind H. B. Plant High School. Gator Ball...when it could not be Soccer. Mosquito FOG trucks...we ran behind them...DUH!. Oyster shell covered roads (Tacon St. for one). Blue hairs at the Palma Ceia G & CC. The massive arch ways on El Prado. The man who lived on a boat just off Davis Islands near the Platt St. bridge. Jim Fair. TV Channel 32...Capt. Mac...Dragnet, Crusader Rabbit. TV Test Patterns. TV Channel 8, down town. Banana boats...selling bananas being sold near by, (the ones that fell off the boat.) Yea...right! Local actor Perino Mascorino (spelling) in a film at the same Banana dock. Cooking wieners on Eucalyptus branches until you found they were toxic. An Ambulance was from the local funeral homes. The sound of an old police siren. Franklin Lake (Fred Franklins Dad, Howard....BTW: The bridge is named after the man). Soap in the water fountain at Grand Central and (now) Kennedy Blvd. Dead Tarpons hanging on a rack on Bayshore. Seddon Island bridge (now Harbour Island)...one car at a time. Had to flash head lights to check if clear. A dance hall out in Old Tampa Bay (you can still see the remains of the support pilings even today. The massive Banyan tree at Ballast Point Park. The skeet shooting range next to same. The old games in the older restaurant at the entry to the pier. Steve Ottos Chile Cook-off. The chain link fence demo to the right of the fair ground entry on N. Blvd. Harlem In Havana side show. A small bar in the basement of the large church near the bridge on (then) Grand Central Ave. JC Penny, Maas Bros., Kresses, (spelling). The Santa you saw when looking thru a small magnifying glass on the first floor (north) of Maas Bros. Green Benches in St. Pete. All You Can Eat for .98 cents near the St Pete pier. The YMCA downtown....guys had to swim necked. (really?...why?). Adams Hatters, Sulfur Springs pool, Cascades pool, Davis Island pool. The Junior Deputy program with TPD / Sheriff (?). Drinking out of a garden hose only to find a small green Tree Frog in your mouth. Peninsular State Bank on S. Dale Mabry. The Pure Oil station at Bay to Bay & S. MacDill. Jim Easons Gym on S. Dale Mabry. The radio towers near the CC Causeway...now a major hotel complex. Maas Bros. restaurant at West Shore Mall. TIA with open passageways....you walked out to the aircraft. The US Navy facility on 22nd St. Toilet papering a tree. The Dutch windmill dry cleaners at Swann & Azeel (?). The Sumners Market on S. Mac Dill. Winn Dixie - Quik Chex stores. Margaret Anns food store on Bay to Bay Blvd. East on RR tracks. The ice company across the street from same. The See the diver go down barker in Tarpon Springs. The one way bridge to Indian Rocks Beach. The Australian Pines on Gandy and at the beaches....in the morning, the shade from same went way out in the water. The large, old wood boat abandoned and on shore off Gandy...someone set it afire! Idiot!. Someone hung a dead Tarpon on the H. B. Plant HS flag pole. Lake Helen Beach. Tampa Smokers baseball team. Only one bridge to Davis Islands. Speed boat races off the 22nd. St Causeway. Singleton Shrimp Co. Buying hand rolled cigars (Monterey for about .90 cents each). Popcorn for a dime. Dill pickle for a dime. The first 3-d movie at the...Grand/ (name please). The Palms Ceia Theater. Cushman Eagles, Mustangs, Allstate scooters. The Strand theater...cartoons almost all day on Saturday. Rocket Man movies. The old Jefferson High School. Herman Orange Band Wieners. Tarnow Wieners. Making a .10 cent can of Bordens biscuits into donuts. Thank you good Tampans. (could read a bit nasty in spelling....wont go there!). Have one great weekend.
