MORNING FRESH WITH JODY BRESCH, Saturday, September 13, 2014: Yesterday we hit the floor running. Mike had to have a PT-INR at 8:00 AM, home health nurse at 9:00, dialysis at 10:00. I had to go to the bank, and fill out some forms and get them submitted. Orion and I had some down time for a couple of hours around noon when my dad came for a visit. Hes eighty-eight years old and I found him climbing across Orions baby gate in the living-room doorway to look for me in the kitchen. He made it too. After dialysis, Mike needed a blood draw at ORHC, so I drove him over there, and then I packed a bag for Hunter, drove it over to Luke and Ashleighs, where Hunter was staying for the night, played with Amary for awhile, who I have missed something fierce. Im happy to say I think she missed me equally as much. I was most definitely supposed to come in and admire her writing skills shes learned at pre-school, and help her and Hunter begin putting a puzzle together. She thought I should stay and baby-sit her for awhile. I told her I wished I could. Logan has grown, that sweet baby boy. I wanted to pick him up and kiss his little cheeks, but that didnt seem fair to his mommy since she was fixing supper, so I settled for admiring him for a few minutes. I admired Lukes sidewalk he put in from the garage to the ramp. It looks really good. Then I came home and Mark, Teonia, Mike and I discussed the load of gravel we need to fill in the muddy ruts Ive been parking in. Teonia had made some garlic pasta with meatballs and Texas toast, and it was delicious. I came into the living-room to find a chat message from JoAnn Wegner saying she was making MIke a sugar free cake, and would be over in an hour to deliver it. She said it seemed only fitting since my birthday is this week, and I deserved a birthday treat as well. I saw her message just in time to turn on the front porch light before they got here. The cake smelled divine, but the company was equally divine. Last night, Mike seemed as well as Ive seen him for weeks. He was alert, in a mood for company, and chatted with Dennis, JoAnn and I until just before bedtime. Orion was pretty much wiped out by the time they arrived. He had climbed on MIkes lap, and within a few minutes he had fallen asleep in his arms. I put Orion to bed, got his baby monitor, and we continued to chat for a while longer. Mike was still chatting with our company as they were walking out the door. Poor Lexie wanted to herd them to the car so bad, but I told her to put on her company manners instead. When JoAnn and Dennis had left Mike said, Lets dig into that cake. JoAnn, it was delicious. It didnt taste sugar free, it was that good. The strawberries and whip cream with the perfect touch to go with the devils food chocolate cake. Mike was moaning with every other bite, moans of delight. Thank you so much for thinking of us.
