MORNING PRAYER: OUR FATHER.... HAIL MARY.... GLORY BE.... Most Holy and adorable Trinity, one God in three Persons, we praise You and give You thanks for all the favors You have bestowed on us. Your goodness has preserved us until now. We offer You our whole being and in particular all our thoughts, words, and deeds, together with all the trials we may undergo this day. Give them Your blessing. May Your divine love animate them and may they serve Your greater glory. We make this morning offering in union with the divine intentions of Jesus Christ who offers Himself daily in the HOLY sacrifice of MASS, and in union with Mary, HIS Virgin Mother and our Mother, who was always the faithful handmaid of the Lord. AMEN!!!! SUNDAY, 22 JUNE, 2014 (SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST) CORPUS CHRISTI 1ST READING - DT 8:2-3, 14b-16a REFLECTION: (Verse 2,16) 2*Remember how for these forty years the LORD, your God, has directed all your journeying in the wilderness, so as to test you by affliction, to know what was in your heart: to keep his commandments, or not. 16*And fed you in the wilderness with manna, a food unknown to your ancestors, that he might afflict you and test you, but also make you prosperous in the end. RESPONSORIAL PSALM - PS 147:12-13, 14-15, 19-20 R/ Praise The Lord, Jerusalem. 2ND READING - 1 COR 10:16-17 REFLECTION: (Verse 16-17) 16*Brothers and sisters: The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? 17*Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf. GOSPEL - JN 6:51-58 Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is My flesh for the life of the world. The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, How can this Man give us His flesh to eat? Jesus said to them, Amen, Amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on Me will have life because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever. REFLECTION: In The Gospel Today, Jesus is clarifying all that He has said so far about being the BREAD OF LIFE which brings eternal life to the believers who receive Him into their hearts. LESSON: Jesus is food for us, sent from the Father in heaven. Unlike ordinary food, which just sustains life, this food gives a life that is eternal. From the burning bush to the gentle breeze, God has made his presence known among us since the beginning of time. Being among us in the eucharist is a significant way of being present always. Therefore, Brothers and Sisters, let us partake with the fullest confidence that it is the BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST. For His Body has been bestowed on us in the form of Bread, and His Blood in the form of Wine. POPE EMERITUS BENEDICT XVI STATED THAT; “Receiving the Eucharist means adoring Him whom we receive. Only in this way do we become one with Him, and are given, as it were, a foretaste of the beauty of the heavenly liturgy. PRAYER: MY LORD Jesus Christ, I believe that Thou art truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. I believe that in Holy Communion I shall receive Thy SACRED BODY and Thy PRECIOUS BLOOD. My faith in Thy real presence in the Holy Eucharist is firmly founded on Thy word, O Eternal Truth. My Saviour and my God, with the angels who surround Thy altar-throne, I bow down in humble adoration before Thy Majesty. MOTHER, ARK OF THE COVENANT! PRAY FOR US, AMEN!!!!
