MORTALITY What makes a man a man? Is it because he gazes at the stars? A man he comes and he goes, His bones turn to dust, His deeds forgotten, Only one thing shall be left behind. A word that means something to one, But nothing to another, A word that men have died for, A name. Some can say, “I walked with heroes”, “I walked with Hector, the tamer of horses”, “I fought with Achilles, king of Warriors”, “I talked with Odysseus, tale spinner”. But when my life is done, And I am done gazing at the stars, I ask only this of you, Remember my name, For these men wait for me on the banks of the river Styx, They say, “Welcome brother. What be thy name?” Sacred Ecstasy and Eternal Love!!
