MOSQUITOES! TMJV has been contracted to treat the fresh water - TopicsExpress

MOSQUITOES! TMJV has been contracted to treat the fresh water mosquitoes at TFN. The Corporation of Delta is responsible for the mosquitoes that breed in the salt marsh. The goal is not the eradication of mosquitoes, but the suppression of their populations to tolerable levels. Mosquitoes are part of the food chain and Coast Salish territory is famous for its hungry mosquitoes, bit we do work hard to keep their numbers low. WHAT YOU CAN DO: Protect yourself - Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk - long sleeves, long pants and insect repellent with DEET work. Eliminate habitat - drain standing water, clean your house gutters so rainwater does not pool. If you have a pond put fish in it - stickleback are the native species to use, they eat the larva, or put a pump in it , or let me know that you would like us to treat your pond with pesticides. Share your experience - It is helpful to hear about the mosquito populations from TFN residents to ensure adequate suppression of nuisance mosquitoes. So please share your thoughts with me.
