MOTORCYCLIST SUFFERS SERIOUS INJURIES IN OXNARD CRASH (Thursday 10-09-14 at 10 PM) Oxnard police are investigating a traffic collision that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries. They say it happened shortly before 5 PM on Victoria Avenue north of Channel Islands Boulevard. Police say their preliminary investigation indicated that a blue GMC SUV was southbound on Victoria when the driver pulled into the left turn pocket at Monaco Drive in order to turn into a private shopping center. They say that a motorcycle was traveling northbound on Victoria from Channel Islands Boulevard towards Monaco Drive when, for unknown reasons, the SUV made a left turn directly into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the front end of the SUV and the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected after the impact. The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old Oxnard man was taken to VCMC with significant internal injuries, a broken left leg, and a broken left arm. The driver of the SUV, an 84-year-old Oxnard woman, was treated for minor injuries at Saint Johns Medical Center. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and anyone who might have information that could help in that investigation is asked to call Traffic Officer Tom Martin at (805) 385-7749.
