MOUNT GARNET NOTES. MT. GARNET. June 11. 1930 The bridge or culvert over Spring Creek is finished and passed by the Council, so that one of many bad crossing on the Gunnawarra road is obviated. A Government gang of men is engaged at present on repairs to the Mt Garnet railway bridge over Return Creek. The town crossing is still in the usual state of disrepair being nothing more nor less than rough corduroy over which the traffic bumps up and jolts down. It never rains but it pours is a trite old saying and last week it rained confetti on two young newly married couples. The third was private wedding, no less happy, because of the absence of publicity and fuss. The contracting parties were Mr. Les Grant, our local Postmaster and Miss Muriel Davidson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Davidson of Oakvale, Lower Return Creek, followed by Mr. E. Smith of Mt. Garnet and Miss Mona Sloan of Mareeba, and sister of Mrs. L. Lucey of Strathvale. The third was Mr. F. Allendorf and Miss Lena Moss third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Moss of this town. All the contracting parties are North Queenslanders.
