MOUNTAIN MARKS presents Exciting Monsoon trek to BHIMASHANKAR on the 15th August & 16th August 2014. Little Info About The place Type: Hill Height: 3500 Feet above MSL (Approx) Grade: Medium (5. hrs trek) Base Village: Khandas Bhimashankar is one of the 12 Jyotirlings of India, a pilgrimage place approximately 3500 feet high up in the hills. The area around Bhimashankar is covered with thick dense jungle. The Maharashtra Government has also declared it a Wildlife Sanctuary.The sanctuary is small (only about 100 sq. km’s), but it is home to a wide variety of animals Leopard, Sambar, Barking deer, Porcupines, Grey Junglefowls, Wild pig, Hanuman langur, Rhesus macaque and Flying Squirrel etc. The sanctuary is famous as the home of a highly endangered subspecies of the Indian Giant Squirrel – Shekharu (Ratufa indica elphistoni), which is also the state animal of Maharashtra. The tentative itinerary for the Trek is as given below: Day 1: We will be starting with the karjat local get down at neral. Reach Base village Khandas by Private Vehicle and have breakfast mid way. Start the Trek by 9.30am Snacks enroute Reach Top by 2 pm Visit Gupt Bhimashankar; Dinner & Stay. Day 2: Breakfast. Visit lord Shivas temple. Start Descend. Reach Base Village Khandas. Lunch at karjat. Reach Karjat by Public Transport. we will be reaching Mumbai by 8.30pm to 9.00pm tentatively. Prior registeration is compulsory.Charges Rs 950/-(approx) Meeting time : DADAR : Main bridge of central and western near PCO booth.OPP to reservation counter at 6.00am Sharp. MULUND : Platform no.1 Main ticket counter at 6.30am. Take a karjat return ticket. Things to bring : 1) Proper Shoes compulsory. 2) TORCH Complusory. 3) Proper Bedding and shawl for night sleep. 4) Snacks(as per your need). 5) Extra pair of clothes(compulsory ). 6) Water bottles ( 2 ltr minimum ). 7) Personal medicines if any. 8) Windcheater/poncho/raincover.
