MOVIE 4: The Amazing Spider-Man This reboot of the Spider-Man - TopicsExpress

MOVIE 4: The Amazing Spider-Man This reboot of the Spider-Man franchise fell flat for me. I can chalk that up to just not being a fan of action movies that are heavy with the CGI, but I do think the 2002 versions were better, effects-wise and writing and acting-wise, too. The main standout here with the acting was definitely Sally Field and Martin Sheen, slumming here as the aunt and uncle who take little Peter Parker in. Of course, as my brother says, since I am a Parker I should love this movie (leap of logic). The two leads, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, are appealing but fall a bit flat. Their chemistry was apparent enough and I think they are dating in real life, too. Emma Stone, along with Denis Leary as her dad, are great actors, but the writing is just not there. The villain, played by Rhys Ifans, was just not evil or funny enough. He is a good actor, but I didnt see the spark that we saw with previous villains in the last series, played by Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe. I would say a solid meh for this one. Our resident action aficionado, Nate, might like to chime in.
