MOVIE; CLOSED CIRCUIT: A delivery truck pulls up to a busy London market at 10:45 AM & two minutes later there is a massive explosion killing innocent bystanders & two suicide bombers. The authorities quickly arrest the purported mastermind Farroukh Eerdogen (Denis Moschitto). But since national security is involved he ends up with an open trial defense barrister Martin Rose (Eric Bana) & a special Judge Advocate Claudia ((Rebecca Hall) who will defend him in closed door sessions when secret documents are revealed. Things are further complicated since Martin & Claudia are former lovers & once the trial starts are supposed to have no contact with each other. As they delve deeper into the case they find that the facts are not so simple & there is also a New York Times Reporter (Julia Stiles) investigating who infers there may be pre-knowledge of the suspect by the British Intelligence Agency MI5. Suddenly they are getting visits from “helpful” government agent Nazrul (Riz Ahmed) who suggests that a conviction is probably a good idea. As they get closer to the truth even the Attorney General (Jim Broadbent excellently portraying government creepy) pays a visit. Soon they find their lives being threatened & intertwined with the accused’s son. While the storyline of clandestine government cover-up is always apropos, the story plays out often too slowly like a Le Carre novel. 2 STARS
