MP James Bezan Slams NDP for Promoting Inappropriate Event UT: The event in question: meganleslie.ndp.ca/oppose-the-halifax-war-conference Ottawa, ON - James Bezan, Member of Parliament for Selkirk-Interlake, released the following statement in response to an event promoted by NDP MP Megan Leslie in which the attendees of the Halifax International Security Forum are described as “warmongers and NATOs Ukrainian assurance measures are described as a “scheme to use Ukraine as a battering ram and platform on which to foster major aggression against Russia: I am disgusted that MP Leslie and the NDP are promoting an event which denigrates NATO and calls our closest allies warmongers. It is clear that the NDP are not a mature party and are not suited to leading of a G-7 country. I am also appalled that Megan Leslie and the NDP are promoting an event that attacks NATOs efforts to defend Ukraine and Eastern Europe. It is mind-boggling that the NDP would give a voice to those who accuse NATO of aggression against Russia after Putin annexed sovereign Ukrainian territory. Under Prime Minister Harper, this Government has led in standing up to Putins aggression. As Prime Minister Harper stated, Whether it is five months or 50 years, were not going to drop the subject until Ukrainian territory is returned to Ukrainians. The NDP and MP Leslie have disrespected the NATO alliance that has been the bedrock of Western security for decades. Our brave men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces are confronting the savagery imposed by ISIL.
