MPA ~ Community IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS..... MITCHELL S PLAIN + MEDIA Man arrested after shooting at Eastwoods, Bellville.... I wish this article was as easy to find as the one on the shooting in Westridge. I just happened to hear about it through the grapevine. This was a massive shoot out! UNLIKE THE WESTRIDGE HIT THAT HAPPENED A MONTH AGO! One couldnt turn ones head without hearing about the shooting out side a PREMIUM SPORT BAR IN WESTRIDGE MITCHELL S PLAIN CLUB. A shooting that had absolutely nothing to do the the establishment. As i correctly thought..... it seems the media waits with baited breath for ANY incident to happens in Mitchells Plain. Double page spreads the very next day of half truths and ghastly accusations painting the entire Mitchells Plain with the same blood soaked brush. Conveniently forgetting about the crime that happens in rest of the City and country. Now, without making any excuses for the levels of crime in the community, i dont believe that it is any different from any other in the country, but if the media (this site included) sits on street corners, drooling at the mouth at every incident that happens, we have very little hope of changing the negative perceptions the WORLD has of us. We see healthy, positive community initiatives happening daily that all sheds life and hope into the area. Countless success stories are out there, with some of the most talented individuals gracing the international stage in there respective trades. At home, business thrive in the very place the media labels as one of the most violent places in Africa, yes, i said it, AFRICA! Some where in there seems a gross contradiction in terms. So yeah....IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS..... MITCHELL S PLAIN + MEDIA LETS BE OUR OWN PR SPOKES PEOPLE
