MPC CREATIVE WRITING STUDENTS, FACULTY MAKING THEIR MARK C. Kevin Smith, formerly a student in MPCs Creative Writing program, has been accepted into the Writing Workshop at the University of Iowa, the nations most prestigious Graduate program in Creative Writing. Kevin will focus on the writing of fiction. A short story by Sarah Goodman, an MPC graduate in English and former President of the Creative Writing Club of MPC, has been published in Petrichor Review. The story, A Rabbit Named Justice, can be read at petrichorreview/issue-6/sarah-goodman/ Brandi Kary, Instructor of English, was recently accepted to a writing program at the distinguished Pembroke College at Cambridge University. She will spend the summer of 2014 writing in England. Three short stories by Henry Marchand, Instructor of English, have recently been published: Out of Time, in Blue Monday Review; A Hunger Artist, in Cleaver Magazine; and From the Ocean View Motel, in The Flexible Persona. Mr. Marchand teaches Creative Writing classes and coordinates the Creative Writing Certificate program and The MPC Guest Authors Series, which in March brought novelist Craig Johnson to campus and in April hosted Bridging the Bay: Poetry of the Monterey Bay Region, which featured seven of the most gifted poets from Big Sur to Santa Cruz.
