MP’s son shot, robbed $2M September 21, 2013 By admin Son of People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) member, Joe Hamilton was on Friday afternoon shot during a robbery in the vicinity of the High Court, Charlotte Street, Georgetown. Abdalla Hamilton, 29, of Section K Campbellville, Georgetown received a bullet wound to his left thigh and is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital. According to a police press release, Hamilton was sitting in a motor vehicle that was parked on Charlotte Street, Georgetown, when he was held up by a man armed with a handgun. “The perpetrator shot Hamilton to his left thigh and took away a bag with $2 million. He escaped on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice,” the release added. According to information received, Hamilton was shot around 13:00h outside the High Court. The man, according to reports had just arrived at the court to transact some business, but was confronted by two bandits who relieved him of the $2 million. It is believed that the two suspects might have traced Hamilton after he exited Republic Bank on Camp Street, minutes prior to the robbery. The money was reportedly a part of a loan that the young man took to construct his house. Hamilton, who is an employee at the Office of the President with the One Laptop Project (OLPF), reportedly put up a resistance after the men demanded the money. He might have had a little scuffle when one of the men shot him in the left leg. The young man was rushed to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital by his friend, but was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment. His condition is regarded as stable. Attempts to get a comment from the man’s father proved futile. The police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.Filed Under: TOP STORIES
