MRS GANIAT FAWEHINMI 9a, Ademola Close off Remi Fani-Kayode Close, G.R.A., Ikeja, Lagos THURSDAY, JUNE 12, 2014 JUNE 12 2014 THE DETERMINANT YEAR The issue of this year being the anniversary of the freest and fairest election has now become the year of probably the most expensive election we would ever have. The preparations for the 2015 elections, has over shadowed the provision of entitlements of the Nigerian people. The Nigerian people have become nothing in the guise of this current administration. First and foremost entitlements like food, shelter, health security have either become so expensive or non-existent to the average Nigerian. This current administration and it’s political foes have decided to gamble with the life of the ordinary Nigerians without consideration for the fact that they are human and are entitled to several humanistic attributes as enshrined in the 1999 constitution (as amended) with reference particularly to sections 33 – 46. The government has failed in all its duties to the extent that terrorism has become the order of the day. The President is so pleased inviting the foreign powers to Nigeria in the guise of fighting terrorism. His current invitation which was extended to Pakistan and culminated into a visit by the Pakistan President shows that the President is merely experimenting with the lives of the kidnapped Chibok Girls and he is not willing in any way, form or manner to rescue these poor girls despite the hues and cries of mothers and concerned Nigerians. It is funny that it is at this point in time Doctors are going on strike, Students are protesting and Nigerians have died and are dying daily from the uncurtailable strikes of the Boko Haram Sect which has now become a daily occurrence. If MKO Abiola had been allowed to rule probably employment would have been a thing of great success. Health care would have been virtually free and the Boko Haram Sect would have been non-existent because the quality of life would have been at a level of excellence that no Nigerian or foreigner living in Nigeria would even consider strapping a bomb round their chest talk less of detonating one. Anybody ruling Nigeria or aspiring to rule in 2015 must have a manifesto of improving the quality of life for the poor/average Nigerian. In hindsight we must always be grateful to our founding fathers who managed the economy successfully with proceeds from agricultural products. There was also dignity of service and due consideration for the wishes of the Nigerian People in whatever part of the country. I cannot imagine a newly turbaned Emir ruling from the government house of the state surrounded by security agencies armed to the teeth, instead of the people he is meant to govern and reaching out to them from his palace as has been customary practise in the north. Vox Populi vox dei (The voice of the People is the voice of God) The country is richest at this point more than it has ever been and yet wealth is not still evenly distributed despite the recent rebasement by the Federal Government. Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa yet majority of its citizens are so poor that life has become a product wish they chase after as if they have to purchase it and keep it for sustainability not even for improvement of its quality. The new pension scheme for governors who are out of office is not only outrageous but ungodly to say the least while it is virtually impossible to initiate free education in Nigeria and to practise virtually free and qualitative health care for the poor citizens of this Nation. MAY GOD ALMIGHTY HELP US!!! LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA Signed MRS GANIAT FAWEHINMI
