MRT or Moral Reconation Therapy is a cognitive-behavioral - TopicsExpress

MRT or Moral Reconation Therapy is a cognitive-behavioral counseling program that combines education, group & individual counseling and structured exercises that lead to enhanced moral reasoning, better decision making, and appropriate behaviors. MRT was developed in 1985 by Gregory Little, EdD. And Kenneth Robinson, Ed.D. MRT addresses beliefs and reasoning and is designed to alter how clients think and make judgments about what is right and wrong. Results happen because MRT seeks to move clients from hedonistic (pleasure vs. pain) reasoning levels to where concern for social rules and others becomes important. MRT focuses on seven basic treatment issues: confrontation of beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors; assessment of current relationships; reinforcement of positive behavior and habits; positive identity formation; enhancement of self-concept; decrease in hedonism and development of frustration tolerance; and development of higher stages of moral reasoning.
