MS Rebirth supporters, volunteers and sponsors--the legacy of the late Dr. Aaron Shirley lives in me...the Revelations of the Revolution continue... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hey, Yall, I AM making faith! Out of sheer deference for Dr. Ollye Shirley, Erin Shirley Orey, Christal S. Porter, Terry and Kevin Shirley during their mourning and grieving time last week, and my deepest love and respect for the late Dr. Aaron Shirley, I intentionally DID NOT do a lot of media, radio and TV promoting interviews of the MS Rebirth Bras For Ta-Tas Games Party Shindig on Mon., Dec. 15 @ the Country Fisherman @ 5:30 p.m., other than posting the flyer on my FB page, send a few e-mails, and ask people to attend and financially support this effort. SO, WE ALL HAVE TO RE-DOUBLE OUR EFFORTS TO GET THE COUNTRY FISHERMAN PACKED AND PINKED UP! ON MON., DEC 15!!! WHOOP! WHOOP! Rebirth is a healthcare advocacy and breast cancer activist non-profit organization. It would have been difficult to do what I normally would be doing last week, which would be to go leaflet every office in the Jackson Medical Mall, Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center, and other physicians and specialists offices during this past week because Im happy and excited about the annual Country Fisherman games party shindig, but also at the same time, sad and heartbroken about the heavenly transition of Dr. Shirley--my mentor, role model, father-figure and friend. You talk about a Catch-22 situation! But, once Dr. Shirley was given a proper and befitting home going service, I know hed want me to hit the ground running about the three projects of MS Rebirth that he was intimately involved in--the Games Party Shindig, the Cards For Cancer program and the program we call the MS Rebirth - JMMFs Healthcare Survey. Now Yall--we all know that Dr. Shirley NOR Congressman Bennie Thompson lends their name to ANYBODY to do a project or program that they themselves or staff are not heading up. However, when it comes to Rebirth, it is NOTHING that the Congressman nor Dr. Shirley wouldnt do to help lil ole me move forward with my dreams, including trusting me to protect their names and reputations by signing on as the honorary chair and co-chair of the brainchild of Dr. Shirleys that he personally asked me to do to ascertain what and where in the poorer and minority communities are the cancers, types of cancers and the other chronic illnesses located in and around Jackson, Hinds and Madison counties. I AM truly humbled ad honored with this level of respect for me and my work by Doc and Bennie, as well as them knowing (knew) this project is in good hands and I wont take a privilege or misuse their credibility to get something done that would bring shame or dishonor on them or ME! In other words, STEP I of the Dr. Shirley/Congressman Thompson and Rebirth program begins at the Bras For Ta-Tas collected at the Games Party on Mon., Dec. 15. These bras will also be given to the UMMC Cancer Institute (UMMC-CI) located at the Jackson Medical Mall, as well as at least a dozen of the beautiful, soft pink fleece blankets with the Rebirth logo screen printed on them, tubing and bulb holding pouches, etc. Step II is providing other durable medical equipment, as well as gas, personal items and meal Visa/MC gift cards to help breast cancer patients during their cancer journey. Step III involves the MS Rebirth-JMMF project we want to kick off around or on January 15, 2015. The Congressman has already attended the informational reception at the Penguin so that he knows exactly what role I want him to participate in, and Dr. Shirley met privately with me, some of our Rebirth board members and supporters, too, about his healthcare survey brainchild. Doc told me to move forward, put his name on the flyers, etc. and go for what I know!!! Bennie gave me the same permission. So, again, everything Rebirth does is not something that we talk or brag about being involved in. I just want to do Gods work and HIS will and leave a legacy, so when I do get up out of here for good, Yall will be able to keep on saying, Stephanie lived a FUN-filled life everyday, and she left us doing the same. Again, please PUMP (PINK UP) Step I, the games party ALL week long as often as possible, order your ticket(s) on-line: msrebirth.org, so we can move on to Step II, so Dr. Shirleys living and legacy will not be in vain. Otherwise, we know how we are: everybody is crowding around the Shirley family with words of sympathy, hugs, love, etc., but the question of the hour is: What are YOU going to do to keep Dr. Shirleys dreams alive AFTER this week? As for me and Rebirth, I want the Shirley family and YOU to know Im starting right now--TODAY, and we wont stop until Ive done what Doc asked me to do. So, keep me in your prayers, attend my events, and PLEASE give some of your resources and time. And, also, keep the faith in the fight to find (and fund) a cure! I AM! ~ Steph
