#MUAVoyage Day 6 Blog. Sounds like hard going - Blog written by Hana. Haunui position 27/10 at 1900hrs, S30 20, E169 34, spd 4kts, crs 020 115nm to Norfolk, winds unfavourable for next coupla days. Later @ 0425 S3026.4 E16843.5 Early morning boost from the NW has seen us a few odd miles more SWest. Apologies for no blog (Sorry not sorry) We all seem to be enjoying the company of our mate Wharetoroa and our environment as well as each other. Karakia, Waiata, Haka practice followed by a number of charades filled our expanse of the ocean with laughter and amusement. After 5 days out of sight of land we are closer as a whanau, a bit more creative and comfortably soaking in the priveledge of being onboard our Tupuna waka. After a day in fair winds and sun we sat down to a magnificent sunset and a kai to be remembered. Fresh sashimi (Albacor) waka made pizza with all the toppings, bean salad and raro. We are all very excited about visiting our whanau from Norfolk and strengthening our relationships as a people of the Pacific. We will be saying goodbye for now to a few onboard and take our opportunities to grow which is why soaking in everything around us from the winds, swells, stars and experience we have with us is so important. Rereahu, Kaipara and myself have been a part of Te Toki Voyaging Trust since before 2007. We have voyaged over 30,000nm around the Pacific and our brother has just returned home from a year of voyaging around micronesia, back to the Pacific all the way back home to be on with us to Australia. Looking back to when we were first affiliated with the Trust, I dont think any of us thought our future in waka hourua would reach depths that it has today. We pay tribute to the mana of our ancestors and give thanks to those that had a belief and continue to support us in all our journeys with many more to come. We have a great leader that will support us in all ways when Hotu and company depart in Norfolk. For him we are grateful! Thanks Greg!! All our crew onboard are awesomely amazing from the South Island, to the Wanganui side, Mighty Hawkes Bay, Kawerau, HTown, Auckland, up North and Malaysia! Have to give a big shout out to all our whanau supporting each and everyone of us onboard. We are as they like to call it LIVING THE DREAM. You cant control the winds but you can sail :) After our first stop, looks to be that we will continue straight on to Sydney. Shot whanau Hana
