MULTIPLE ENTRY JAPAN VISA FOR FILIPINOS: On Tuesday, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan released a statement regarding the issuance of multiple entry visas for Filipino nationals. “The Government of Japan has decided to begin issuance from July 1, of multiple entry visas for short-term stay to nationals of the Republic of the Philippines (ordinary passport holders) who reside in their home country.” This visa amendment will help tourists and businessmen from the Philippines to pursue their visit to Japan without unnecessary burden. The Ministry also stated that it will ease “business transactions between the two countries.” Only with Machine-Readable passport (MRP) or an ordinary IC passport are qualified to be granted with multiple-entry visa. The provision allows Filipinos to have a maximum of 15-day stay in Japan and will last for 3 years. Besides the Philippines, Vietnam will also be granted with multiple-entry visa. As for Malaysia and Thailand, the Japanese government said that both countries’ visa requirements will be waived. “Experience beautiful Japan,” is what Prime Minister Shinzo Abe wants the world to personally witness. Surely, this will help ASEAN citizens who want to visit Japan be less troubled with visa requirements. Although Japan may be focused with tourism, it should also remember the potential effect of these visa requirement amendments to Japan’s entertainment industry. Southeast Asia is home to a large fandom of Japanese artists. (SOURCE: Lifestyle and Travel)
