MUMBAI: Air Indias Birmingham-Delhi flight 113 flew over Ukraine - TopicsExpress

MUMBAI: Air Indias Birmingham-Delhi flight 113 flew over Ukraine on Thursday night and at one point was apparently just 25km from the ill-fated Malaysian MH 17 flight which was shot down when flying over rebel-held eastern Ukraine. The flight paths as seen in flightradar24, a live flight tracker website that gives real-time data of flights flying over different continents show that flight AI 113 which was operated with a Dreamliner aircraft and Singapore Airlines SQ 351, operated with a Boeing 777 aircraft, which is the same aircraft type as was flown by Malaysian, were about 25km from the plane that was targeted. Soon after the news of the crash came in, Air India sent an urgent note to all its pilots to reroute their flights and avoid overflying the Ukranian airspace. Media reports said that the Malaysian Airlines flight was accidentally targeted and the real target was Russian President Vladimir Putins aircraft.
