MURRITONG PIKIN WHATSAPP MEETING MINUTES SUNDAY 3RD AUGUST 2014 PEOPLES PRESENT: Ophelia Cole Lewis (Chair), Gloria Cole, Bockarie Kukuku Musa, Bernie (Bernadette) Sannoh, Omo Cole, Onesimus Allen, Emmanuel Ayo Lewis, Onesimus Allen, Topeh Jalloh, Rupert Dove-Edwin Jr, Desmond Sesay, Ade Bright , Georgina Laverse (Secretary/Minute taker). UPDATE & AGREED ACTIONS: 1. Total PayPal donations to date £282.12. Ophelia explained that PayPal takes a % of all donations - a transaction fee – which works out roughly about 60p for every £10. 2. Ophelia informed that she understands that £100 has been sent to Rejoice in Freetown. 3. Rejoice will give a breakdown of what he has received on Tuesday 05/08/14. 4. Ophelia informed that Georgina, Desmond Sesay and Rejoice have been sent the details of the PayPal account and can also check accounts at any point. 5. Ophelia informed that the group’s bank account is currently in her name and stated that he hopes that at some point when we have sorted out our constitution we will be able to transfer the account directly to Murritong Pikin (MTP). 6. It was suggested that all those at home and abroad who are able and willing to donate to our cause should do so, and that people sending funds directly to Freetown should keep individual records. 7. It was agreed that money donated directly to Freetown is for purchasing ebola buckets and for things that can be bought in Freetown. 8. Ophelia suggested we work out how much money is required for buying things in town and get people to send money directly to Rejoice in Freetown. 9. It was agreed that funds raised in the UK will be used to purchase items such as gloves, chlorine tablets, overalls, aprons etc and if Freetown does not have enough funds we can send from PayPal fund. 10. It was agreed that we would buy chlorine as advised by WHO instead of Dettol. 11. Ayo posted information about people with cuts and wounds on their hands should be careful when using chlorine as entry can cause cancer. 12. It was agreed that ebola buckets and chlorine would be distributed to the agreed public spaces - churches, mosques, schools, markets, hair salons, Wharf. 13.The 3 mosques and 8 churches would be provided with 2 ebola buckets each and 3 chlorine tablets each. Buckets will be inscribed with ‘provided by Murritong Pikin’ as this will raise the groups’ profile. 14. One member volunteered to provide 1 of the mosques with buckets and tablets. 15. Kukuku suggested a day or two of campaigning to educate the community about ebola. 16. The issue of how to use the chlorine tablets was raised. It was agreed that we stick with the tablets and if they become problematic then we will change to the sachets. The meeting was adjourned to Wednesday 06/08/14.
