MUSIC FESTIVAL - MUSINGS 7( TIRUCHUR BROS - UNFORGETTABLE) --------------------------------------- Rarely I am at loss for words.But I have been since yesterday evening.That is the impact TRICHUR BROS have left on me.In the immediate past 10/15 years, I do not recall a concert that devoured me with emotions as this one did on 31/12/2014 at YGP AUDITORIUM.I am still in a daze.No hyperbole, let me hasten to add.This was the view of MrsYGP also who spoke briefly after the concert.She is known to be spartan with praise. Not till my friend RBS spoke about him during my current visit, I had heard about them.Both RBS and his wife Vidyaji were insistent that I should not miss them at any cost.I went to the concert choosing to remain not greatly impressed with their recos.I confess, quite delightfully, I stand corrected. A few points of information to serve as a backdrop.: @Both are young,the eldest may knock at 30 and the younger lesser by 2 to 2.5 yrs @ at least one of them is a pro with CA degree. @ they seem to have been tutored/ mentored by their father MOHAN, who accompanies them on mirigm. @They seem to share a bondage which is based on mutual respect for each others report ire .Each gives the other a huge space to display and seem to revel at what other delivers.genuinely.This is not the case in co singing by siblings.Normally one will either be deferential to the other out of his own choice or lack of choice.Consequently, their concerts are not individual and separate endeavours, merging at the krithi delienation with swara and niraval being dominated by one, but a robust joint ventures as you normally see in homogeneous jugalbandhis.Having seen some virtual dog fights in the stage, this was an experience that was unbelievable , really. @Almighty has endowed both with such boundless energy that both of them together generate something comparable to supersonic fighter plane.It can definitely drive the bullet train NAMO wants between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. @Supplementing the energy is a solid theoretical foundation and above all an entrepreneurship to explore in gay abandon. @At the risk of consternation of my friends let me say it nevertheless: their diction does not betray their nativity. Now for the concert. I will only detail two items.BHUVANESWARIYA in MOHANAKALYANI is a song that appeals universally.The raag is an amalgam of two gems MOHANAM and KALYANI.Even a brief essay of this raag normally is so pulsating.Not for our bros such a brief caricature.The two bros took on themselves to go on a voyage to see till the limits of this raag.Not by one only, but both together, alternately and together. Like two mountaineers do while scaling a peak.Each takes a few steps and dares the other to go beyond him surpassing.There is brief period where both are at the same level, only briefly.Immediately it is passed through. All with a delight writ large on their faces which shines radiantly when they reach a peak together.It was only a foreword!!! To follow it was a 100 minute RTP in two raags. One certainly looked DESH, DESH mind you for an RTP!!I have not seen many humming it beyond a few minutes.TNS and Bombay Jayashree( at her best) is an exception. The other coming so closely as if breathing down the neck, appears ( to be confirmed ) MISHRA SIVARANJANI.What drove them to take such bilateral essay.One to capture the mood of JOY during the fight to independence and the other in the nation building that followed. Who said only devotion and bhakthi should be the underlying emotion in a concert.To our young masters NATIONAL SENTIMENT can equally be.If Modi was there he would have given them a solid bear hug.Reminiscing over their truly awesome presentation, you wonder where they find a common note to switch the ragas so seamlessly.It is not as if one is attempted ,completed and then other attempted.But both coming at you at such a speed that before you really identify one, the track is already changed.Never before my mind has been so exercised( I hear a sarcastic whimper somewhere whether it was at any time?). The self crafted pallavi NAADINOM PORADINOM BHARATHA MANNUKKU, ANANDHAM ADHAI ADAINTHOM was pregnant with national fervour and was recited with justifiable pride of a true nationalist. As if the variety in raag allap was not enough, the swaras allowed entry of JANARANJANI,MAAND and BILAHARI. A seven course lunch served on a full plantain leaf, that surprisingly made your mind yearn for more. At the end I was only hoping and praying that neither false self pride nor age should wither the collaborative and collusive endeavour of these divinely gifted brothers. Nothing could have provided a more fitting FINALE to my 5 day MUSIC FESTIAVL journey than this concert. A heartfelt thanks to RBS ( Bagavathy Subramaniam) and his hospitality personified gracious wife VIDYAJI to have acted as facilitators. I will cherish your kindness for ever. Like ·
