MUST READ. The question arises: why do most MP prefer to remain silent spectators in Parliament? Do they have no issues to raise? Or is it something to do with communication skills? One reason why the MPs may not be able to raise issue in the House is their lack of research on key subjects that are of urgent public importance. One thing we have notice over the years is that most MPs suffer from a disconnect with the masses once they are elected. Unlike the MLAs, most MPs prefer to stay put in the confines of their bungalows or flats in Delhi, make the national capital their home and get on with life. This is a fact. Again, PRS Legislative Research, ( a Delhi-based research group specializing in parliamentary proceedings) has come out with very interesting statistics on the funding and utilization of projects in the Northeast under the Non- lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR). Take the case of Assam: Under tourism and culture, there was just one project with an approved cost of Rs 3 crore, of which the entire amount was released. The percentage of utilization unfortunately or significantly is zero. There has been 188 projects under roads and bridges at an approved cost of Rs 1111 crore. Of this, Rs 747 crore has been released, but the utilization has been only Rs 503 crore or 67 per cent. One fails to really understand the reasons for this unsatisfactory progress in project implementation or utilization of ready funds.. .. Think Atleast once before u vote..... LIKE & SHARE THIS.
