VERY IMPORTANT From the Department of Education for Life: Carrots: The following is information from a farmer who grows and packages carrots for IGA, METRO, Loblaws, etc. Carrots small cocktail (baby) being sold in small plastic bags are made with crooked or deformed carrots bigger than passed through a machine that cuts and gives them ways cocktail carrots - (most of the people probably do not know this). What you do not know and should not know is this: Once the carrots are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots, are immersed in a solution of water and chlorine in order to preserve them (this is the same chlorine used in swimming pools). Since we do not have their skin or natural protective covering, they give them a higher dose of chlorine. You will notice that once you keep these carrots in the refrigerator for a few days, a white covering will form on them. This is the chlorine which resurfaces. At what cost we put our health at risk to have esthetically pleasing vegetables? Chlorine is a well-known carcinogen, which causes cancer. I thought it was worth transmitting this information. Pass as many people as possible in hopes of informing them how come these carrots and how they are processed. I used to buy baby carrots to serve them as a snack with dip. Now I know that I will never buy them again! ....
