The bus was originally conceived and developed by Julia Butterfly Hill and her grass roots organization: Circle of Life. Julia undertook this project in order to reduce her impact on the environment from flying to all of her speaking engagements that took her across the country. It reduced her carbon footprint significantly. In addition to running on bio-diesel, Julia also included the greenest materials for the bus interior in order to serve as a model for future conscious touring. In 2007, enter Zach Carson (Philly Boy) purchased the bus for his Sustainable Living Roadshow. Julia has been impeccably maintained by SLR, using the skillful services of Lyle Kent, owner and lead mechanic of Green Tortoise.
