MWANZA DEFENDS RENARD FAZ Communications Manager and Spokesperson Eric Mwanza has dispelled media reports that Herve Renard wants to leave Zambia and is looking forward to beating Chipolopolo during the 2015 AFCON to be played in Morocco. Renard was quoted by a local tabloid stating that he will not be at the helm of the Chipolopolo job during the 2015 AFCON. “HERVE Renard says he will be in charge of Chipolopolo at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. “I will beat Zambia at the 2015 Africa Cup and you will remember me,” read the quote. But Mwanza has categorically stated that the Zambian coach did not say so. “Herve did not say to anyone not even our colleague from the newspaper that he was leaving and that he was looking forward to meeting and beating Zambia at the Africa Cup Morocco 2015,” read a statement on Mwanza’s personal Facebook wall. Mwanza said he and Renard actually wondered what the motive for the report was. Full statement on Mwanza’s facebook wall. Herve did not say to anyone not even our colleague from the newspaper that he was leaving and that he was looking forward to meeting and beating Zambia at the Africa Cup Morocco 2015. Even when the time comes for him to leave, he wouldn’t say such a thing. Herve is not just a coach for Chipolopolo for me; he lives with me like a brother. I go to stay by his place and take my family and he comes down by my place with his family and we go on about life and not just football – and we talk about everything. But when we go for work, we set aside our relationship and it’s all work, hard work!!! Just today, we did lunch together at home as we’ve done other times and the matter of the article in the post came up…the sports minister called in to check if it was correct. Naturally, we were disappointed and wondered what the motive was to publish what he never uttered. As a matter of fact, when he was exchanging texts with the author of the article, I was with him – from Friday to today – and the responses from his phone were being typed by me and there was no reference to Morocco. Let’s be careful and not hang a man for the errors of others. He’s a professional and for anybody who cares to know, he’s one of us and whenever that time for him to leave comes around, he will be around Lusaka and Zambia because he’s made this country home. Engagement and disengagement of a coach can never be secret, so let’s not be dragged down by issues created deliberately to meet whatever means.
