MY 12 THINGS most people dont know about me, continued.... 4) I have always liked writing and speaking. I was editor of my high school newspaper my senior year, and again of the Penn State paper one year, despite being in the school of electrical engineering. I was in organized debates and an actor in numerous plays years ago (The father in Father of the Bride was my favorite role). Several years ago I tried again with my first musical as the gardener in the musical version of The Secret Garden, but my singing was nothing to brag about. I do much better with spoken parts. I won 2nd place on a TV quiz show years ago. I have had some short stories published. I have preached sermons twice in Methodist churches. And I love doing the narrations for our travelogues. 5) Before college I had intended to become a medical doctor, but the money for all that schooling was never there...we were a rather lower class family with my dad doing labor jobs in the steel mills and I could never save enough from my summer jobs on the highway department and in the steel mills for 3 months each summer. Then I was awarded an engineering scholarship, so that became my future career. I still read more medical articles than I do engineering ones. 6) The middle finger of my right hand had 2 inches cut off by a car seat in my girlfriends van while I was trying to fix the seat and she moved it at the same time...a nice clean and fast cut. We packed the 2-inch piece in ice, and I sat in a chair and watched the hospital surgeon sew it back on...fascinating stuff. I had a 50-50 chance of it living....and it did, complete with the feeling coming back again. {{ #7 through #12 yet to come.....bedtime}}
