MY 15 FAVORITE PIECES OF 2014 (#1, 2 and 3) And the final - TopicsExpress

MY 15 FAVORITE PIECES OF 2014 (#1, 2 and 3) And the final three. It is the final day of 2014 and it has been another great year and I wanted to look back at it and share. Here are my top 3 favorite pieces of 2014 personally. #1: NEVER SLEEP AGAIN--finally getting to contribute something to my favorite horror film of all-time this year was a dream come true. Didnt even matter what the art turned out to be, the honor of honoring this film in this manner will never leave me. I do however really love the cover. It was a challenge to capture THE MAKING OF A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET without using any actual images from the film. To represent the film without painting Robert or Heather, ect. While it is a digital painting which I kind of hate to do as I am a drawer at heart, I am very proud of the final product. #2: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 4--I have really grown to love drawing Jason Voorhees over the years and this is my personal favorite so far. This scene was the scariest scene in the series to me. To take the camera and turn it around from the victims point of view was different which is what I always strive for. I get tired of doing the same thing. Seeing the same thing. Doing a good portrait is fine and dandy but I think it is important to try to find another way to do things. As many of my peers have also noticed, especially in the horror genre, artists just keep reproducing the same handful of photo stills and production photos from films. Instead, create a whole new image no one has ever seen before. Make it 100% yours. #3: ALIEN--What a difficult but rewarding piece for me. This was a lot of work but what I love is as I said, I draw. I have never been a painter. And I love black and white art. I would prefer it. But sadly in the commercial world, there isnt a lot of need for black and white art. But I was able to do this poster in black and white with pens and pencils and got a good response from it. I wish I could do a lot more like this. It was also a bit of a return to my comics roots. Its really just a comic book splashpage. See you guys in 2015.
