MY BIRTHDAY AT THE AIRPORT: So, my 55th Birthday was exactly a week ago from yesterday. I was hoping to record a video message to you guys, thanking everyone for all the many birthday greetings, wishes and funny birthday posts! But...since yall didnt chip in and get me a video camera for my birthday (LOL :D ) I had to skip that idea. But a SINCERE THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to wish me a happy birthday! My birthday was a bit different. Heres why - An old friend who I knew way back in grade school and junior high school, called me the day before and said he & his wife were flying from Utah to Alaska...and they had a 6 hour lay-over in Seattle! He asked if Id like to meet them at the airport and go out to lunch and basically help them kill 6 hours? I hadnt seen him in years! So I did. We met and figured out a plan. Thank goodness for his wife! She was the organizer, the planner and she seemed to enjoy working out all the details. We put their bags in storage at the airport and took the light-rail train to Seattle, about a 40 minute ride from the airport. Our original plan was to find a nice little park by the water and have lunch, but we ended up at the world famous Pike Place Market, enjoying some street entertainers along the way. Found a nice little restaurant there which had a good view of the water and we had a nice casual lunch and visited in the back corner of the restaurant! My friends flight to Alaska was at 8PM and we returned to the airport just after 6PM. Plenty of time for them to get through security and catch their flight. They were going up to Alaska simply for the Summer Solstice, hoping to see the sun NOT set and watch it stay daylight for 24 hours way up North by the Arctic Circle...and also just to experience Alaska! Yes, I had a lovely trip....to the airport, then to Seattle for lunch, then back to the airport, and home again! Thank you for asking. ;)
