MY BUSINESS TRIP TO JAPAN I LOST ALL MONEY. BUT. I was young - TopicsExpress

MY BUSINESS TRIP TO JAPAN I LOST ALL MONEY. BUT. I was young and naive in traveling on business. Yes I had a visa but I did not have a hotel reservation. It was youth science fair in Tokyo. All economic hotels were taken. I did not know that. At the Narita airport they asked me for hotel address where I was going. I said I did not have one. She said I could not enter Japan unless I had a hotel reservation. I was young Naive in ways of international business where I had put my head to. In my pocket was $3000 to buy a reconditioned car to start business. My plan was good. Some people were doing it. I wanted to succeed. I knew I could succeed, so I believed. She asked me if she could book a hotel or me in the airport else I could not be allowed to enter Japan. I real wanted to get to Japan. She asked me how much I had with me. I declared all $3000. She made one phone call. She handed me a reservation of Imperial hotel. I got to the hotel. I paid before going to the room. I thought it was a mistake. I gave $1300 for one night. I sat on bed all night. This is the best room and bed I had ever been in my life. I had fear for how I had failed. I was to stay in Japan for three days to buy the car and leave. My ticket was valid for three days. I left Tokyo for for Nagoya to buy a car there. I spent much going there but I had spent much also in the Japanese Bullet train. I was down to $1400. How do I buy the car. My desire was to buy a car. Now all these was falling apart Yes I had come to Japan in search of wealth. Now I had failed. But I had faith for a miracle. The cheapest car was $2000 in Nagoya. My dreams had one down fast. I slept in a YMCA hostel. I paid less than $10. This was good compared to $1300 a night in Tokyo. I accepted defeat. I went to my room. I cried and I prayed. I was ready to go back to Kenya empty handed. I called Kenya a friend I had met. I asked him what to do. I was desperate. He gave me a contact in Japan. He told me to use his name in the introduction. I called Japan Africa Marketing, a car dealer with experience in dealing with Kenya. MR Hirakawa of Japan Africa Marketing spoke a few words in Swahili. I told him my pain. He told me to travel to Yokohama. I spent another $200. I was down to less $1000 below a car price. I wrote my speech to Mr. Hirakawa. It was the shortest speech I have read to a stranger. Please drop me to the airport for Nairobi. We met at the Yokohama railway station. He was very friendly. I did not understand why. He pulled to the kiosk so to say. He came with a chewing gum. I was happy he gave me a gift. The gift was for his good heart so I felt. I had not washed my teeth for a long period. My mouth was smelling real bad. Later I understood the gift was to change the odor from my mouth. Failure can make your mouth smell real bad. Soon we pulled into his hostel at his workshop/garage. He took me to eat but I read him my speech. He told me not to worry. He took me to visit a Kenyan Ambassador in Japan. I hoped I could borrow from Mr Ambassador to buy a car at least. I looked at the Ambassador. No I cannot borrow from this guy the little voice spoke to me from inside me. The day to travel came and passed. Trouble and trouble I had less than a thousand dollars barely enough to buy a ticket to Nairobi. He asked me how much I had to buy a car. I said non. I told him that the little I have is to buy a ticket and then I had to get back to Kenya. Then I will send him the money and buy a car from Kenya. I lied because I did not have any money in Kenya. I did not have the money to send him because I was just beginning. When in the hostel at his facility I cried all night. In the morning he was very happy. He took me to eat and we went to see cars to buy. He told me he was buying cars for Kenyan Market. I loved the cars I saw but I had no money. What God shows you can be your by faith. At the end of the day. He told me to give him all the money I had. He told me we will go to buy the ticket. I had no extra money to buy even a souvenir from Japan.. He gave me a proposal. I would get all the cars I needed. I will sell the cars. Then pay him. That is how I started business when I had nothing. God gives you from nothing. Yes I had given up but God had another idea. Do not give up when nothing works. Keep pressing on even if you have nothing. From this point I started my business and got experience to keep going. Do not give up. Keep going even when you have nothing. God has something. Now I do business I never dreamed of just because I kept going even when it seemed impossible. No matter what happens be ready to keep walking.
