MY CONVERSATION WITH MR. POWELL (HIS CRITICS ON MY POEM) Mr. Powell: Stupidest thing I ever wasted time reading. Me: Then why took time to read? Mr. Powell: Hafidah Dalidig Bedar, its like a really bad copy of Dr. Seuss. Do you know who that is? He wrote childrens books, very simple and elementary. Heres one you might like to read, Green Eggs and Ham. Me: Sorry if I did insult you Mr. Eric. I say peace to you. 😊✌ And the servants of the Beneficent ALLAAH are they who walk on the earth in humbleness, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace. [Al-Furqan:63] Mr. Powell: Hafidah Dalidig Bedar, its not that I was offended. I just think that the message was obscured by the desire for phonetic rhyme. It kind of trivializes something of great importance. No matter which side of this tragedy one is, the absolute weight of seriousness or gravitas cannot be denied. I thought the poem didnt convey it, content was compromised by method. To a native speaker of English, it didnt have any emotional impact. Me: Its okay Mr. Eric. Not everyone will like your works because we are created with different thoughts and opinions thats why we have different skin colors. I accept your criticism as this may improve my writing capabilities. I am just a beginner in this so I apologize. Anyway, thank you. I just hope you learned something though coz I learned something from this. Never would anyone learn something if he does not know how to accept criticism and never would the society be peaceful if people do not know how to respect ones opinions and thoughts.
