MY CREAM STORY: On the morning of Nov. 2, 1968, I was in a taxi in New York City with my father, RODGER CURRIE, who wanted me to have a good time on a break from boarding school. As we drove past Madison Square Garden I noticed the marquee said Tonight CREAM Farewell Concert SOLD OUT and I remarked Boy, I wish I could go to that. Dad said: Stop the car. He then hopped out, went inside, and 10 minutes later emerged with tickets for me and a friend. (He was the best at making impossibly good things happen.) That night the super English psychedelic rock trio of guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce, and drummer Ginger Baker played their next-to-last show ever in the U.S.-- a now legendary night in rock history (and Currie lore). So REST IN PEACE JACK BRUCE, who died at age 71 yesterday. (And THANKS DAD. Your family and friends all miss you.)
